I’m a father, son, creative spirit, and the baby brother of 4 siblings who are caring for our mother, Carmen, who suffers from Alzheimer’s. By day, I’m a live brand storyteller for one of the most awesome creative agencies in the world, but I started this podcast with my sister, Poli, to tell a different kind of story. Our family’s story is like so many other families all over the world dealing with Alzheimers, Dementia and Mental Health.  Together we are caregivers and warriors forever fighting for a story that in our lifetime ends with a cure for Alzheimer’s. Mother, wife, sister and daughter.   A working-outside-the-home mom and then a stay-at-home mom.  Just when I was ready to go back to work outside my home, our amazing, otherwise healthy mother began showing increasingly troubling signs of Alzheimer’s dementia; so I stayed home and took care of her.  Along the way my siblings each provided crucial care and support for our mom, for me, and for each other.   We often said to each other,  "What are we going to do about Mom?”  This podcast tells the story of what we actually did and continue to do, how we’ve held our family together, and how we continue to fight like hell to save our mother and our whole family from this grim disease.

Middle child, rebel; turned mom, wife, and entrepreneur.  The newest title is Advocate.  I work in Personal Real Estate, Private Equity and Investment Realty.  In real life, my siblings are my best friends and touchstones.  Our Mother, Carmen is the reason for all our success, and when we realized she was suffering with Alzheimer’s, I joined the family fight for her care and dignity.  Our relationship is her greatest accomplishment and deepest pride.  Her 8 grandchildren are close and loving- a testament and legacy of their Grandmother.  I lived with Mom for 18 years.  She lived with me on and off for 3. My husband and 2 kids have had a front row seat in watching Carmen’s decline.  We hope our conversations and decisions can help guide others in their journey with loved ones through the Alzheimer’s disease process.

I’m blessed to be one of four siblings with an effortless and tight bond. We all wish to do the right thing for our mother with Alzheimer’s, and honor her often-repeated words: “Isn’t it great how we all get along”. We refuse to let her disease bring us down. Instead, we do our best to support her, and each other, through caregiving and creative solutions for the myriad issues arising from her Alzheimer's. As an attorney, wife, and former stay-at-home mom with college-aged twins, I use my time to pursue my passions for health and the law by taking classes at Georgetown University Law Center in Food and Drug Law. I love to volunteer for causes I am passionate about, such as ending Alzheimer’s disease and stopping Food-borne Illness.
